For the first time, the members of Tai Chi Yukon took part in this worldwide celebration. In over 60 countries and every time zone, tai chi players got together to do what they love best at 10 a.m. on April 30th. In downtown Whitehorse, about 25 people gathered on the plaza in front of the federal building to do qigong, tai chi and watch a sabre demonstration. Our group included everyone from tai chi players with several years experience to passers-by who spontaneously joined in. There was certainly a vitalizing spirit in the air and afterwards, organizers immediately began planning how next year’s event could be even better. We have not yet looked up the Siberian community but surely we are contenders for the most northerly tai chi event? Many thanks to Marie Fjermestad whom you won’t see because she was taking the photos. Click here to see the album. To see many inspiring images from events around the world, check out: |
