Tai Chi Yukon Welcomes the Year of the Ox!
On January 24, 2009, Tai Chi Yukon hosted our annual Chinese New Year free practice and feast. This event was extra-special in that it marked the first event of our 20th anniversary year. Most auspiciously, 20 people showed up at Takhini Elementary School gym to practice forms, sabre, do a little push hands, and conclude with everyone doing qi gong and a closing together. We then went on to Cheryl Buchan’s home to enjoy a Chinese feast sponsored by Jo-Ann Gates and check out our fortunes for the year ahead. The afternoon concluded with our Annual General Meeting, the highlight being a lively discussion of ideas to celebrate the rest of our 20th anniversary year.
Many thanks to those who volunteered to serve on our board, especially new members Sylvia Preto and Rita Mackenzie-Grieve. Special thanks to Jo-Ann and Cheryl for making the feast possible and Lillian Maguire for the photos. To learn more and be involved in forthcoming events, contact your instructor.
